Too busy to cook a healthy meal every night?

After a long working day, driving to the supermarket and making an elaborate healthy dish is the last thing you feel like doing. You are busy AND still want to exercise for an hour. Then meal prepping is for you. You make a number of meals (as healthy as possible, of course!) for the rest of the week, store them in sturdy containers and you are ready for the rest of the week!

Tips & tricks!

  • Take your time on a Sunday, find some tasty dishes.
  • Get some ingredients at the supermarket that can be used for different dishes (this way you also reduce food waste).
  • Get some foodcontainers that seal well, freezer and microwave safe.
  • Did you cook a full pan of rice? See what all is delicious with rice. That way you still get varied meals.
  • Check your leftovers in the fridge, what is almost past its date? Use that in your meal and don't throw food away.
  • Meals prepared? Let them cool for about half an hour before putting them in the freezer or fridge.
  • Put stickers on the freshness boxes so you know when you froze them (frozen meals keep for about 3 months).
  • Tadaa! You're ready for the week ahead, just take your meal out of the freezer the night before and put it in the fridge. When you get home from a long day at work heat it up and you can go straight to the table.

Just what are the benefits of meal prepping?

  • More relaxed after a busy working day
  • Way to maintain a healthy lifestyle
  • You combat food waste
  • No wasting time asking ‘’What are we eating tonight‘’
  • Awareness: it helps you eat less unhealthy snacks and fast food
  • You save money and time!
  • More environmentally conscious: you know how much and which ingredients you need, so it reduces waste.
