Sustainability at Sunware; together towards a greener future

At Sunware, we believe that a tidy home starts with a tidy planet. That's why we work every day to create a more sustainable world. From designing smart storage solutions to making our production processes more sustainable; every step counts.

Our sustainability strategy rests on three pillars: environment, social responsibility and circularity.

1. Environment

Sunware is a partner of Clean Deal, an initiative of Dobro. This means that we are committed to keeping our own premises waste-free on a daily basis. We have received a bronze certificate for this.

We are currently mapping our CO₂ emissions, with the aim of setting reduction targets to reduce emissions.

But our approach goes beyond the factory. Thanks to our advanced ERP system, we deliver large customers directly from production, without unnecessary intermediate steps or transportation movements. And because our factory and central warehouse are just 17 kilometers apart in Tilburg and Waalwijk, we keep logistics lines short and our COâ‚‚ emissions low.

We also help you live more sustainably in the kitchen. Our Club Cuisine food containers are ideal for storing leftovers, preparing meals or taking lunch to work or school. By doing so, you reduce food waste and also save on disposable packaging. Plus, all of our food containers are BPA-free, so they are safe for you and your family.

2. Social responsibility

Sustainability is not only about the environment, it's also about the people behind it. At Sunware, we believe it is important that everyone feels seen, valued and involved. We create a work environment where diversity, equality and well-being are key.

For example, we have an almost perfect gender balance within our team: 48% women, 52% men. Our management team is also nicely balanced with a ratio of 40/60. Because we believe that a mixed team leads to fresh ideas, strong collaboration and better decisions.

Every day, our hostess Brigitte provides fresh, healthy lunches for all employees in our cozy company restaurant. In addition, our staff association regularly provides surprise gifts, seasonal treats and fun outings that strengthen the team spirit.

We are also proud of our cooperation with Baanbrekers, an organization that helps people with a distance to the labor market find suitable work. By now, 16 colleagues are part of our team through this program. We see it as an enrichment for our company as well as an important social responsibility. Because an organization can only really flourish if people feel good about themselves.

3. Circularity

We also advocate more circularity and sustainable manufacturing starts (literally) on the shop floor. We do this by reducing, reusing and recycling raw materials and Sunware products. We use 33% recycled materials in the production of our collection (2024).

Even products that do not fully meet our quality standards during production (so-called plastic waste) are not considered waste. These are completely ground up into raw material and reused elsewhere. In this way, we ensure that nothing goes to waste and give plastic a new life time and again.

Our designers create products that are modular and last as long as possible. Most of our collection is made from a single material, a so-called monostream. This simplifies recycling at a later stage.

Take, for example, our Sigma Home Cube boxes and folding crates. These are made from recycled plastic, without compromising on quality or appearance. They are stylish, sturdy and multifunctional; from living room to garage. By using recycled materials, we give plastic a second life and reduce the demand for new raw materials.

EcoVadis - Silver

EcoVadis is an independent international sustainability assessment platform that provides insight into the sustainability of all kinds of organizations in production chains.

This platform assesses the sustainability efforts of companies against efforts of other organizations worldwide. A recent assessment earned us a Bronze certificate.

Having earned a Bronze medal in 2024, we are incredibly proud to share that we received a Silver medal in 2025! A wonderful recognition of the progress we have made in the area of sustainability, such as establishing a sustainable procurement policy and code of conduct for our suppliers.

From roofs to sustainable rides

Sustainability also means being self-sufficient. That is why we have installed no fewer than 4,700 solar panels on the roofs of our headquarters and factory in Tilburg and Waalwijk. Together, these panels provide about 69% of the total energy consumption at both locations. In this way, we are making optimal use of the power of the sun and reducing our dependence on fossil fuels.

But we are going one step further. We are also taking steps in the area of mobility. With our bicycle plan, we encourage colleagues to bike to work. Good for the environment and good for your health! Together, we reduce COâ‚‚ emissions and stay fit and vital.

For those who do need a car, we make it as sustainable as possible. We encourage electric driving and have installed several charging stations on our grounds. This way, employees and visitors can easily charge their cars while they are on location. Step by step, we are making our working and living environment a little greener.

Efficient lighting and transport

At Sunware, we look at every detail when it comes to sustainability, including within the walls of our warehouse. Because a sustainable future often lies in smart choices on the shop floor.

Using our advanced Warehouse Management System (WMS), we optimize the routes of our forklifts on a daily basis. By keeping these routes as short and efficient as possible, we save significantly on energy consumption. Less driving time means less power for electric forklifts and more speed and safety in the logistics processes.

The result? A logistics environment that not only works smoothly and quickly, but also contributes to lower energy consumption and a smaller ecological footprint.
