An out-of-the-box goft in december
People are often in quite a hurry; running, flying and dashing about is daily fare for many. At the same time, we particularly value traditions, and like to take our time for them. Decorating the Christmas tree, for example. Sunware is happy to accommodate this. With Christmas storage boxes that save time in those busy December days. The Van Veen family - Wesley (42), Yvonne (31) and children Sanne (8) and Stijn (5) - live in a modern house on the outskirts of Eindhoven. All family members love Christmas. Why is that? Yvonne thinks she knows. ‘I met Wesley as a colleague; we both worked at the same ICT company. Just after the 2014 Christmas party, we celebrated a small afterparty in town. That's where the spark suddenly struck. Since then, Christmas has had extra meaning for us. And I think you subconsciously pass on that feeling to your children anyway.’ Busy or not, the parents always stick to their December tradition during the holiday season. ‘It's nice to slow down then, and to know that everyone in our family does. It really is a time of ‘together’.
Magical Christmas time
As for that December month, Yvonne says the children are first of all very much looking forward to St Nicholas. ‘I suspect Sanne knows how things work. But she doesn't show anything and she just fills in her wish list. And Stijn has been asking since the May holidays when he can put his shoe on. It is a very cosy time, with the Sinterklaas news, shoe presents and ginger nuts all over our house. But especially Christmas time has something really magical for us. For Wesley and myself, I mean. But the children have also joined in the tradition.’‘So after the exit of St Nicholas, we actually get out the boxes of Christmas stuff almost immediately,’ she continues. ‘In them are baubles, indoor and outdoor lights and socks for over the fireplace. But also figurines, an illuminated Christmas village, the artificial tree and much more. Whatever kind of Christmas decoration you mention, chances are it can be found in one of our boxes. Always quite a haul, then, but we make it a fun family activity.’
Christmas storage boxes from Sunware offer solution
The close-knit family's Christmas collection has become quite extensive and precious over the years. ‘Some items have emotional value for me,’ the candid Yvonne explains. ‘The Christmas angel that belonged to my grandmother, for example. Grandma is still alive, mind you, but I've seen that ornament hanging on her tree in December all my life. So it's not a real Christmas without that angel. That is why I am careful with it. And I try to protect our things as much as possible throughout the year.’How she does that concretely? ‘We have been using Sunware's Christmas storage boxes for two years. These help us keep our collection well organised, but also safe. Because of course, with two young children and a dog in the house, it all has to be a bit ‘lout-proof’.
Sunware makes Christmas even more festive
The lady of the house is especially lyrical about the Christmas ball storage boxes. ‘Since we have been using them, not a single bauble has fallen. Well, just one,’ honesty compels her to say. ‘But that was because our dog was wagging his tail too fanatically while decorating the tree. There's not much else Sunware can do about that.’ The boxes protect the balls heartily, the verdict is. ‘And thanks to the compartments, we can store everything very clearly: purple by purple and gold by gold. That saves so much time, both when unpacking and packing. This only makes Christmas even more festive!’The family's Christmas collection is still growing every year. Mostly thanks to Yvonne herself, she explains somewhat guiltily. ‘In the garden centre, I can never resist taking some pretty things with me. So we could actually use a new storage box as well. I am strongly leaning towards the new Sunware Q-Line Christmas box of 72 litres; it can really hold a lot.’ Wesley adds: ‘Shall I buy it for you? Then you'll have a nice and original present under the tree. And I won't have the well-known problem of not knowing what to give you anymore.’
